Beaudesert is a quaint rural town situated in the picturesque hinterland less than an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Beaudesert is home to more than 6,395 people and is situated in the Scenic Rim Regional Shire – a thriving rural paradise set in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and surrounded by world heritage listed national parks. Its main towns are Beaudesert, Boonah, Rathdowney, Kooralbyn, Kalbar, Aratula, Canungra, Tamborine Mountain, Harrisville and Peak Crossing.
The Beaudesert area is also well known for its majestic national parks and rainforests, some of which are World Heritage listed. Check out Mt Tamborine, Mt Lindesay, Mt Barney, Mt Ernest, Mt May and Mt Maroon. Their spectacular scenery makes bushwalking a popular activity and there are plenty of campgrounds to try especially along the Albert River.
The region also contains three dams: Lake Moogerah, Lake Maroon and the recently completed Wyaralong Dam.
The ever-popular country markets at Beaudesert team with local produce and high quality craftwork. Galleries display the well-respected works of the local art community.
A smattering of high quality restaurants serve exquisite meals, while a growing number of boutique vineyards complete the picture of a food lovers’ paradise. There is a good selection of boutique accommodation that”s perfect for a romantic getaway.
Of course, a leisurely drive out on the winding country roads is not to be missed. Stop at a country pub for lunch; the food is often as generous as the hospitality.
For the more adventurous the area offers many 4-wheel drive tracks aswell as various horse-riding trails.
There are many family-run horse riding schools, great for beginners or advanced riders.
The Beaudesert Golf Club is a semi-private 18 hole golf course, open 7 days a week with Pro Shop.
Beaudesert Fair Shopping Centre is the premier shopping centre of the region. It features a large covered car park and an air-conditioned mall. The centre retailers include Coles, Target Country and 19 specialty stores to meet all of your shopping and service needs.
The Beaudesert township offers a broad range of goods & services and facilitates the Beaudesert hospital, a public library, various aged-care facilities and two local newspapers, one of which is the Beaudesert Times which begun in the 1890s.
Beaudesert has two primary schools – Beaudesert State Primary School & St Marys Catholic Primary School and Beaudesert State High School.
Located in the heart of Beaudesert is MSIT – Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE. MSIF offers practical training from industry professionals, with over 230 courses to choose from.
